3 Part Technique - (1) From half guard Mick begins by feeding the lapel of the opponent between the legs (aka The Bikini) to create a strong grip around the leg and break the posture. He then traps and controls the trailing leg to come up for the sweep. (2) From the bikini grip it’s common the opponent backsteps to avoid the sweep and continue their pass. Mick changes off the grip and high elbows his way to a sweep. (3) When the opponent backsteps but bails out and goes back the other way Mick takes advantage and ends up with more sweeping options.
